Great trail and awsome workout ! . True, that the first part is better than the other sections, but still it is a nice and challenging walk. BTW- I like new web design :)

I definitely agree that you should not step foot on these trails without a map. It's a bit confusing the way things are marked. There were no maps at the start of our hike which there sometimes are. Fortunately, we were able to find one with our iPhone. Not much to see here though.

Mike - We actually don't keep track of our time and it's really subjective anyway... it varies greatly depending on your personal hiking speed, plus variables like stops for photos, snacks, and viewpoints.

However, I'd guestimate around 5-6 hours for this hike, for an experienced hiker keeping a decent pace (roughly 2 miles per hour).

I just rode the section of this trail from the Tree Farm to the Ken Lockwood area.....at the beginning of this section the trail is terrible --- it has been eaten up by horse riders. I understand that there is a farm aright across the street that uses it frequently --- it is VERY bumpy. Maybe there is something that can be done to smooth out the ride ....just a thought ! It is a great ride...Go ride and enjoy it...

My friend and i have been hiking ireland brook for a while as a way for a local hike when we get the bug on a weekly basis. Correction to description of ireland. The park trail does no end at fresh ponds rd. Cross the road and continue to fallow yellow. It get wet and boggy but there is a lake on one side and a creak on the other of the trail. You can cross under the nj turnpike bridge and have to make another creak crossing turn left and fallow that to the base ball field and cross davidsons rd to dallenbac park behind crystal springs water park for more trails. If you can figure out how to link all the trails togather it is a nice 13 mile total hike. Oh I live around the block for her and fequant often. Please remember to bring a bag for trash as I am always cleaning up after people with no respect for the woods.
