Garvey Springs to AT North – out and back

Hiked:
Sunfish Pond

Delaware Water Gap, Garvey Springs Trail to AT and back.

16 miles (new record). About 8 hours. Warm, sunny and pleasant.

Parked at the 2nd parking on Old Mine Road (think its called Douglas, its part of the campgrounds). There is a bathroom beyond the parking lot. Trail starts across the road.

Garvey Springs is ORANGE on the left, BLUE on the right goes up slightly less steeper.

Took ORANGE up steeply for 1 mile. Halfway up you walk N for a bit on ROCK CORES then continue up ORANGE.

You arrive N of Sunfish Pond and pick up the AT here. We followed it N where it follows the ridge. Mostly level until the descent to Camp Road before Camp Mohican, then climbs again after the road.

We passed the junction of Rattlesnake Swamp trail. Finally turned around and headed back, stopping at the pond to soak our feet in the cool water.

It was later in the day and was quiet. Hiked the steep mile down to the car and headed to Wendy’s.

*Blueberries along the trail were ripe and tasty.
