Harriman in August 2007

Hiked:

9.5 Miles. From Sebago boat launch parking lot. No facilities, used visitor center at beginning of park.

Trail starts across the road, directly across from driveway. Steeply heads up then levels off thru close brush, often like a tunnel.

Lots of blueberry bushes although no berries as it was past season. Kept making noise just in case bears were up around the many blind corners.

Headed up towards the viewpoint and there, smack in the middle of the trail by a nice flat seat sized rock, was a 3 foot long rattlesnake.

We gave it a wide birth and it quietly moved under the rock without even a slight rattle.

Ended up at — lake. Almost no one around even though it was a perfect 72 degree day and totally unusual for August.

Hung out on a large flat rock outcrop for awhile before heading back.

10 minutes after driving away, it started to rain.

Added 8/2019… based on GPS data think this route was:

Seven Hills – Buck – Tuxedo Mt Ivy – S-BM over Panther Mountain – Pine Meadow past the lake – Pine Meadow Road towards Lake Wanokskink – Seven Hills

This is from looking at the current map so routes now may be different.
