Biking: Columbia Trail – Ken Lockwood Gorge – 2013

Hiked:
Bike rider on a long rail trail bridge over a river

A 15-mile long rail trail that runs from High Bridge to Bartley, New Jersey, through scenic Ken Lockwood Gorge and some small towns.

More hot and sticky Jersey weather meant grabbing the bikes instead of our trekking poles again this weekend.

We ended up at the Columbia Trail again which makes this the third year in a row (see “Biking: Columbia Trail – Ken Lockwood Gorge 2012“).

It is slightly uphill from High Bridge out, and while we do feel it, it’s certainly not a big elevation change (and not enough to coast downhill on the way back, either.)

Miles: 30

For a shorter ride, turn around at Califon for about a 10-mile round-trip. Also good for easy hiking, and there are a few side trails in different sections as well.

Bonus: On the way back out of High Bridge we stopped at Gronsky’s Milk House for ice-cream… of course.

After poking through our past posts just now, I realized this is the 3rd time in a row where one of us got chocolate-peanut-butter here… so let’s just say we highly recommend that flavor.
