Pequannock Watershed – Highlands Trail at Echo Lake… plus bears

Opted for a small park today due to forecasted afternoon thunderstorms, which of course never came.
Hiking to Lucy’s Overlook and the glacial erratics in Pyramid Mountain.
Hike along gurgling streams and rolling hills in a very beautiful area that is part of Morristown National Historical Park.
Hiking a High Point, Chik Falls and Otter Hole loop in Norvin Green.
We frequent this park year round; it offers really nice hiking without having to drive too far.
Hiking Mt. Tammany then taking the fire road to Sunfish Pond.
Hiking Hoeferlin and Cannonball Trails in Ramapo Mountain State Forest.
The scrambling sections were more fun and less dicey the other direction.
Nice views 360 views at summit, including NYC, would be be especially nice for fall foliage.
Trail is usual rocky Highlands with a lot of mild up/downs with views of the Reservoir.
BLUE to RED at Kay, cross the road follow around, cross the road again, walk up the drive to KAY then pick up BLUE again.
Good to do a long distance hike, mostly level along the ridge with some elevation changes along the way. 16.6 miles, 7.5 hours.
