Chilly Day at Round Valley
We were looking to get in a somewhat long workout hike with hills but no more than an hour away – and Round Valley fits the bill.
Trail Blogs are casual posts about a particular hike, sometimes with a seasonal focus. They don’t contain the detailed step-by-step instructions and information that our hike guides feature.

We were looking to get in a somewhat long workout hike with hills but no more than an hour away – and Round Valley fits the bill.
A nice varied walk – easy trails and a super cool swinging bridge over Stony Brook.
Another frigid morning with temps in the teens so we headed over to the trails at Perrineville Lake so we could bang out a quick 6.5 miles.
We almost didn’t venture out due to the dire forecast but ended up with one of the best snowshoeing days we’ve ever had.
A few inches of snow, frigid temps, and dire wind chill warnings couldn’t keep us from doing our annual first hike of the year.
